Under the spell of the southern Italian charm, Ornella and Lenard have long found their haven in the Puglian rugged countryside. In all ways, it felt natural for them to have an Italy wedding.

Even though they both live in Belgium, their love story found its roots in the Murgia countryside, where Ornella is originally from. Lenard is German, but his passion for these lands grew in a heartbeat. They are a couple who travelled a lot due to work, but every Summer, Murgia provided a sanctuary for their romance, letting their chapters unfold in the small Trullo house owned by Ornella. In their words, Puglia feels like home – a return to their origins and savouring the important things in life. That is why for this couple, it was truly important to host their wedding in Italy.

Romanced by the rugged and laid back feel of the countryside, their Italy wedding was curated in an authentic Puglian venue, the Masseria Spina Resort. Gorgeous historical stone architecture adorned with terracotta colours, featuring a stone courtyard and lovely earthy textures – it was a perfect place to realise their rustic yet chic celebration.

The vision for this wedding in Italy was a reflection of the couple’s personality. Ornella chose to steep the aesthetic in earthy colour scheme with enchanting rust hues, and also infuse the set up with gorgeous bohemian details. Lenard desired chilli peppers to be included and it was such a charming detail that beautifully stood out during the reception. We also loved how every detail was thoughtfully tailored, especially the fig blades that are a symbol of Summer and Puglia. They were included on the invitation but also as a small gift serving as a placeholder.

From dream-like florals to quintessential Puglian elements, their rustic Italy wedding was an ode to modern romance.
